This past weekend Lori and I stopped by the Anti-Depression Session Craft Market in Brooklyn. There we saw our friends from Brookadelphia and Saltlick (you can see modeling some of their shirts on their site) and some cool new crafters like goosegrease. I practically fell over myself trying to get to GG's booth, where they were selling these adorable wooden dolls.
I splurged for the pink ninja (shown above) as well as a one-eyed pirate, which you can see after the jump along with some other faves from their Etsy site.

I've only, once in my life, had a bed frame. All other times my mattress and box spring have sat on the ground. For some reason, when my bed is on the ground I feel like it's more secure. This may be residual trauma from the one frame I had -- an antique that felt like it was going to collapse every time my 12 year old body jumped into it. Either way, I'm a grounded bed kinda gal, but that doesn't mean I don't crave a fancy headboard.
As an avid Apartment Therapy reader (full disclosure, I blog for the company's tech site) I've always drooled over the DIY headboards the contributors feature. Not too long ago I decided to stop drooling and just make my own.
After a canvas and x-mas light project went wrong (don't ask) I decided to salvage the stretched canvas and turn it into a makeshift headboard. How I did it, below...

When I moved my "office" into a large closet in my studio apartment I decided to take advantage of a small nook in the space to make her her own little space.
My friend Hillary works at a local wine store and scored some old wine boxes for me. Using Ikea's wooden shelf brackets, I installed the box on the wall near my desk, packed it with blankets, and within minutes she was tucked inside.
Now, it's guaranteed that if I can't find Dim Sum she's curled up in her box. Problem is, her 16 lbs. brother likes to get in there to -- his photo after the jump...

OMG! I totally need to make one of these for my cats. As you may have noticed, I'm a bit obsessed with my kitties. This little project was found on Ikea Hacker, one of the best sites for getting creative with Ikea's inexpensive goods.
Paola opted against the expensive (and pretty ugly) Bastis Krona pet bed ($69.99) and instead adapted the Duktig doll bed ($19.99) into a snoozer for her hefty cat.She used two Hedda Rak pillow cases and sewed them into smaller pillows and filled them with the linen sold with the Duktig bed.
Now if only there was a way I could hack this thing to make a bunk bed for my feline friends...
Two more photos after the jump!
